Welcome to Ballacreer

This website has been developed to provide an online resource for Creer genealogy researchers and anyone else with a direct or indirect interest in the name Creer. There are a number of researchers around the world currently working on their Creer family trees and who may be in a position to help each other in sharing information resources with each other and identifying possible overlaps in their family trees. Please feel free to browse through the site and enter your comments in the discussion group area. Also if you have any files or information you wish to share then please email these to me and I will arrange to publish them on this site.

The more that people contribute to this site and share their knowledge of all matters relating to the Creer family worldwide, then the more benefit each of us will gain. So please join in. Please also tell any other Creers that you might know about this website so that they can participate as well.

Creer is a family name that originates from the Isle of Man (a small island located in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland). The nature of the community life on the IOM was such that a number of family names evolved over the centuries that were clearly unique to the island. Thus tracing the movements of Manx migrants is assisted by the uniqueness of these names. Creer is one of these unique Manx family names.

There had always been a level of trade and travel between the IOM and Northern England and so Manx families were to be found living in and around Liverpool and other parts of NW England from the 18th century. However economic conditions in the IOM during the 19th century encouraged more emigration from the Island and pockets of Manx settlers were ultimately to be found in parts of Australia, Canada and the USA. Thus Creer families can be found today still in all of these places (and more).

There are some Creer family trees on this site which have been either done by me or submitted by other researchers. Inevitably with the amount of Creer family history research I am doing personally some of these trees will now be out-of-date. Also I have a great many Creer family trees (70+) that I have researched and have not published here. If you are interested in a particular Creer family connection of any nature, then please feel free to contact me and let me know your interest and I will be very happy to help.  Follow this link to contact me
